John Wade's Clone Shoots 90!
My decision to wait until surgery fixed my hand and subsequently improve my handicap all ceded to boredom- thus I met John and Lyle today at Eagle; I'm so glad I did. John " I just can't chip" Wade brought a game we hadn't seen in years.
No negative predictions about the coming hole or particular shot. ( I know, Lyle and I kept looking at each other in disbelief) Time after time, "JW" smashed his orb long and straight off the tee bent over and snatched his tee from the ground. It was clear something was in the air when on #6, the toughest hole on the track;he made par. The 166 yard blue flagged par three simply rolled over and went "dead bug" when JW's 3 iron took up residence 3-4 feet from the hole- Birdie!
Lyle and I began scrutinizing this tall drink after the birdie- was this indeed John Wade? Was there a way to check his DNA, finger prints... Was Bambi aware of this... new John Wade?
It wasn't his drives, nor this irons (which took on a laser like accuracy) no... it was his chipping that had Lyle and I politely smiling at what we were now sure was a clone!! He called it "left hand low"... and it was soooo smooth and left kick in pars and bogies...he displayed for us, explaining how it has become his mantra- ( more polite smiles and nods )
By the way, there was no "game"... we played for fun, for practice- had we played in our regular game, both Lyle and I would be broke!
Bravo JW! If indeed this was you, the word "can't" should now be abandoned from your vocab!
